support and upliftment
side attraction 3 supports african handicraft, and works closely with the women of the african childrens feeding scheme, to create upliftment, using art and culture to promote the value of a lifestyle that is lived with social awareness.
“made in south africa” is an intrinsic value of the brand. we employ the skills of various community groups in the creation of as many of our designs as possible.
we outsource work to local disadvantaged communities, creating jobs in the field of their particular skills, such as beading, embroidery, crocheting, leatherwork and tie dyeing. in addition to being renumerated for this work, a percentage of the proceeds of the sales of these items is channeled back into the community.
in particular we have a close and long standing association with the african childrens feeding scheme – an organization that is especially close to our hearts.
a letter to the owner of side attraction3 from sister rejoice nkutha, executive director of the african children’s feeding scheme, can be read here.
